Scotland’s Greatest Hero

I was commissioned by Novel Sound in East Lothian to design a Double Cassette cover for The Wallace, an audio book version of Nigel Tranter’s book read by actor Micheal Elder.

We’ve all seen Braveheart and the iconic scene where his sword flies though the air and lands in the ground, well I thought that’d make the best image for the cover.

I did some research and went to see Wallace’s Sword at the Wallace Monument in Stirling, It’s seven foot long.
I went up Arthur’s seat with a piece of tartan on a pole and photographed it blowing in the wind.

The commission was a success and I even met and was congratulated on the cover by the author Nigel Tranter himself.

I was further commissioned to design more Talking Book covers, one being a three parter for The Bruce Trilogy, so just as in history or in the movie, The Bruce followed The Wallace.
