Swervedriver

Swervedriver

My cousin Graham used to be the drummer in the band Swervedriver who were signed to Creation Records in the early 1990’s. I was asked to come up with ideas for an album cover.

The effect of the spinning text was achived using backlit acetate on an animation rostrum table with a fixed camera above. The table was psysically spun and me and the animation staff at Edinburgh College of Art experimented with different camera exposures and colours to achieve the desired effect.

What took hours of work then would have taken seconds now using Photoshop.  In the end it wasn’t used as it reminded them of the old Nationwide logo.
