In 1991 I was commissioned to paint a large 30 x 6 ft mural on the wall of Lazio Restaurant in Edinburgh’s Lothian Road. The large landscape included Picinisco a village in Italy’s Lazio region where the owners came from. My meals were free and I enjoyed Steak Diane for dinner most evenings and the Italian owners and staff were all very friendly and hospitable. It took about two months to complete.
The mural lasted over 10 years until they refurbished the restaurant and it’s now behind another wall to be rediscovered one day.
I also produced Menus, Business Cards and Flyers for Lazio as well as designing their website and I painted a grapevine on the front window of the restaurant. Some customers missed the mural and so I was asked to paint two canvas paintings similar to the original painting, including the Donkeys.
