Website Launched to Net Princes Street Shoppers

By MICHAEL BLACKLEY

A NEW website dedicated to the Capital’s leading shopping street is set to go live early next month.

Edinburgh-PrincesStreet.com (now Princes-Street.com) will launch on March 7 to give visitors a clear guide to Princes Street as well as links to its shops.

The idea was the brainchild of Gavin Bonnar who already runs websites on the Royal Mile and on behalf of the George Street Association. Mr. Bonnarm of Chameleon Design, said he had decided to make one for Princes Street in order to link up the whole city centre.

He said: “Royal Mile has had more than 44,680 hits since it was launched in October 2005 and the George Street site is different again because the association gives members free links. The Princes Street site I’m doing in order to cover the whole city centre. It will be more like the Royal Mile one.”

The designer photographed all the buildings in Princes Street and will be putting a selection of the pictures on the site, which will also link up with streets off Princes Street, sich as Hanover Street.
